Dear All We have just discovered that the 20x objective on the Hammersmith widefield microscope is damaged and will not be available until it is replaced. This damage is likely caused when the stage is moved after imaging dishes and multiwall plates. These dishes and plates have a higher focus than slides which means the objectives can come into contact with the stage and holders when moving in X-Y. If you are using these sample holders please be extra careful and lower the focus after you have finished and return the turret to the 5x position. You are also reminded that objectives above x10 cannot reach the outer rows of 96 mutilwell plates without hitting the stage If you are aware that this has happened please let us know immediately so that we can sort it These objectives are costly to replace, also there is the inconvenience of downtime while we await the replacement. Please take care of all our microscopes and objectives Bw Steve FILM - Facility for Imaging by Light Microscopy ************************************************************** Steve Rothery FILM Technician Sir Alexander Fleming Building, desk 403 Imperial College London / South Kensington Exhibition Road London SW7 2AZ Tel +44-(0)207 594 9793 And ICTEM, (L-Block) Room 314 Hammersmith Campus Imperial College London Du Cane Road London, W12 0NN Tel. +44-(0)207 594 1669 E-mail s.rothery@imperial.ac.uk<mailto:s.rothery@imperial.ac.uk> Website: http://www.imperial.ac.uk/medicine/facility-for-imaging-by-light-microscopy/ **************************************************************
