Dear microscopists, because I've received several requests recently, here some update on our software servers: We have a licence server for the VOLOCITY software, which means you can download, install and run the fully licences version on your own computer. All you need is to ask us for a login and type in the server details when starting the software. Volocity also imports images from Zeiss and Leica confocals and is very powerful for 3D rendering, visualisation, tracking and some 3D quantification. For an overview, see the Volocity website <http://www.perkinelmer.com/pages/020/cellularimaging/products/volocity.xhtml> For more demanding or medium / high throughput image analysis, we have the very powerful DEFINIENS software. This also uses a licence server, so again you can download, install and run it on your own computer. It's very powerful but also a bit complex, if you are interested please get in contact, so we can give you an introduction, training material and help. Because the software licences cost money (>£4.5k per year for Volocity, £2.5 for Definiens), we need to charge for usage. Luckily we have many users, so currently we only charge £3 per hour. Please let us know if you want to use either software package. Certainly good visualisation and quantification can make a big difference on what you get out of your data, and the hard work you've put in to get them.
