Dear All,
On Thursday an unsheathed razor blade was discovered on a small cabinet unit top in the FILM confocal ICTEM and a (sheathed) hypodermic needle on the floor.
This is unacceptable behaviour. If you are bringing sharps into our facility you must take responsibility for their proper disposal.
We do not want to have any incident brought about by careless or lazy behaviour.
There have also been numerous occasions when discarded pipette tips have also been found scattered around the floor in
all our microscope rooms and sometimes the microscopes and surrounding areas have been left in an untidy state. This is not good working practice, is against H&S rules and is unpleasant for the next user.
When you finish your sessions, please make sure you:
·
dispose of all sharps and pipette tips in the appropriate bins
·
remove or dispose of all used sample dishes/slides/coverslips
·
take away bottles and tubes of media and other solutions
·
remove samples from the incubators (these are only for short term storage while imaging)
·
throw away used lens paper
·
clean up after yourself and leave the room in a tidy state for the next person, as you would wish to find it
We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
