Dear Colleagues,
I want to extend my thanks for your patience and understanding during the challenging times we are experiencing at the FILM imaging facility. Currently, we are facing a 50% staff shortage, and our dedicated
team members are working tirelessly, often without annual leave and beyond normal working hours, to maintain the level of service you have come to expect from us. We are committed to modernizing our facility and transforming it into an innovative center for
the growth of imaging and digital technologies.
I would like to take a moment to reflect on the invaluable contributions of Steve, a fantastic imaging specialist who has significantly impacted the Imperial College Community. His dedication and expertise
have rightfully earned him Awards for Outstanding Research Support, especially in the realm of image analysis. Steve's remarkable efforts in writing approximately 70 ImageJ/FIJI macros per year, each varying in complexity and provided free of charge outside
working hours, have been a boon to our community. His work is
well-documented and can be accessed
here. While it is challenging for FILM to replicate this level of service, we are determined to move forward and continue our progress.
To this end, we are introducing a new system for those interested in image analysis or AI image research. We encourage you to utilize our new project
request form for any related needs. Your requests will be processed based on time availability. FILM's image analysis and AI service will be supported by mature scientists, including
David Gaboriau,
Anthony Sinadinos, and
Connor Darling.
Furthermore, we are investing considerable effort into developing a robust IT and computational infrastructure. Our vision is for FILM to become a hub where users interested in IA and AI can discover new ideas, approaches,
 and connect with fantastic colleagues.
Thank you once again for your continued support and understanding.
Best regards,
Volodymyr
