SUNIL KUMAR (Paul French lab) - "OBLIQUE PLANE MICROSCOPY FOR HIGH-SPEED 2D AND 3D IMAGING"

  Light Sheet Based Microscopy (LSBM) is a technique that allows the imaging of 3D specimens with improved speed and reduced photobleaching in comparison to techniques such as confocal microscopy. However, one drawback of conventional LSBM is that it requires
 the use of two separate microscope objectives for the illumination and imaging of the sample, and hence cannot be used with conventional sample preparation methods such as coverslips or multiwell plates. Oblique Plane Microscopy (OPM) is a technique developed
 at Imperial College that enables the use of light sheet techniques on conventionally-prepared samples through a single high NA microscope objective, allowing 2D imaging at >500 frames per second and volumetric imaging at up to 30 volumes per second, on samples
 ranging from single cells to individual organs in live zebrafish.
