The cytoskeleton and the cell membrane in the immune system

Monday 25th July, 10:30am - 4:30pm

Franklin Theatre, Institute of Physics, London

This one day, IOP-sponsored workshop will focus on the biophysics of the cytoskeleton and cell membrane in health and disease, with a particular focus on combining modelling and experimental approaches. The day will involve a mix of talks and discussion, with the purpose of initiating new research and collaborations.

Proposed topics include:

  • Membrane shape during phagocytosis
  • The role of actin in endocytosis
  • Shape dependence of engulfment
  • Nanoparticle drug design
  • The role of the cytoskeleton in phagocytosis

Confirmed speakers so far include:

  • Martin Howard, John Innes Centre, Norwich
  • Christian Soeller, University of Exeter
  • Steve Royle, University of Warwick
  • Rhoda Hawkins, University of Sheffield
  • Andrew Thorley, Imperial College London
  • Simon Johnston, University of Sheffield

Places are limited, but to register your interest in attending please fill out the registration form at http://www.exeter.ac.uk/davidrichards/workshop-cyto-immune.html.
