We currently have a vacancy for a super-resolution microscopist to work at the Octopus facility in the Research Complex at Harwell:

 

This is an open-ended “link scientist” role within the CLF’s Octopus facility, which develops and operates advanced optical microscopes for the academic and industrial user community. The facility offers state-of-the-art techniques including super-resolution methods (e.g. STED, STORM), single-molecule localization and tracking, FLIM/PLIM, light-sheet microscopy, and optical trapping. Developments ongoing or planned include super-resolution microscopy under cryogenic conditions, 3D 4Pi microscopy, iPALM, and correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM). Octopus scientists are world leaders in advanced optical microscopy instrumentation and techniques, working closely with facility users to ensure the delivery of a high quality collaborative science programme.

 

Main responsibilities are:

 

Supporting facility users with advanced microscopy techniques and data acquisition. You will be supported by the Octopus team who provide assistance in other areas, e.g. sample preparation and data analysis Developing new microscopy techniques and instrumentation, particularly focused on 3D super-resolution microscopy, correlative methods, and complex workflows.
