At FILM, we strive to offer an innovative, effective, and efficient imaging service for the entire Imperial College London community. It is both a responsibility and a privilege to support such a diverse and pioneering group of researchers across departments.
Our service depends greatly on your collaboration and engagement. With that in mind, we would like to address an ongoing challenge that affects the availability and fair use of our imaging systems: a high rate of booking cancellations.
So far in 2024, 47% of sessions booked on our systems have been cancelled. Unfortunately, most of these cancellations occur too late to allow other users to take advantage of the freed-up time. As a result, microscopy time is lost and the efficiency of our
shared resources suffers.
To help address this, we are introducing a 12-hour cancellation deadline. From now on, bookings must be cancelled at least 12 hours in advance. We hope this change encourages more careful planning and helps all users make better use of available imaging time.
