Dear microscopists,

as you might know, we have the very powerful Definiens image analysis software in the facility, and we keep using it constantly for a range of demanding image analysis tasks. Some of you might not be aware of the advantages this might have for your own microscopy projects. We are therefore planning to re-instate our monthly DEFINIENS USER GROUP meeting, where we present current and past solutions to common (or more exotic) image analysis challenges. Please let me know if you are interested, so we can arrange place, date and time of the user group meeting.

And for your information, the online DEFINIENS FORUM and RULESET EXCHANGE have become quite lively recently, and now they contain a long list of useful Tips, Tricks, ideas and downloadable rulesets. Some generally interesting pages should be:

USER FORUM: <http://community.definiens.com/user-forum.html>, with topics from beginners to various expert tasks

RULESET EXCHANGE: <http://community.definiens.com/rule-set-exchange.html>, a long list of downloadable rulesets to solve common problems; examples are:

# Detection and Quantification of 3D Signals in Confocal Images
# Segmentation of a line via layer arithmetics
# Rolling Ball background correction

The FILM Crew is happy to get you started with a basic trial analysis of your data and a personal introduction. We also have some capacity to do analysis tasks for users, although for bigger projects, we would need to plan this well in advance.

 Good imaging,

Martin
