Internal Funding Opportunities: Equipment Sharing and Access to Facilities

 

Calls for Facility Managers and Early Career Researchers – DEADLINE: 8^th April 2013 (12 noon)

 

Background: 

The College aims to foster a culture of equipment sharing.   This is partly in response to RCUK’s guidelines for equipment funding, but more generally to encourage good practice to secure cost savings, improved efficiency and increased collaboration.  To expand equipment sharing at Imperial the Pro-Rector Research Office is running two funding calls.  These calls are designed to support the activities of Facility Managers to enhance the scope and volume of usage of facilities; and to support access to facilities and equipment for Early Career Researchers. 

 

CALL 1) Facility Managers: 

Funding is available to support activities to enhance the sharing capabilities of facilities and equipment. Such activities include but are not limited to: modification, upgrade, promotion, training provision, development of web resources. Projects funded will increase the scope and usage of the facility/equipment.  More information and details of the application process are available here:

CALL 2) Early Career Researchers:  

Funding is available to support access to facilities and equipment at Imperial for Early Career Researchers. This call is designed to allow access to facilities for the purposes of generating preliminary data in order to apply for research funding.  More information and details of the application process are available here:

Application Process:  Applications should be sent to strategicresearch@imperial.ac.uk.  Each submission must be approved by the relevant HoD or his/her nominee.  Full details are available in the attached call documents and above web pages. 

 

The deadline for submission of applications is noon Monday 8^th April.  Queries should be sent to c.macleod@imperial.ac.uk. 

 

Review and Selection:  All eligible applications will be considered for funding by the Pro Rector (Research) with the Cross-College Research Proposal Review Group with supplementation from the College Research Facilities Advisory Group.  Decisions can be expected by 19^th April.
