A reminder about today's presentation and demonstration: -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Leica Matrix demonstration Date: Fri, 14 Jan 2011 11:58:48 +0000 From: Martin Spitaler <m.spitaler@imperial.ac.uk> To: film-users <film-users@imperial.ac.uk> CC: Colin Park <colin.Park@leica-microsystems.com>, Paul McCormick <paul.mccormick@leica-microsystems.com> Dear microscopists, for next week Wednesday I have organised a DEMONSTRATION and trial of the LEICA MATRIX SOFTWARE. This software would allow the automation of our confocal microscopes and could have some important advantages for us: * ability for flexible design of screening experiments, e.g. automated tiling of multiple areas or wells * automated focussing on the bottom of a coverslip using laser reflection * direct streaming of data onto a data server using the OME-TIFF format, hopefully allowing full integration with our OMERO image database, thus avoiding problems with data import, unnecessary transfer of large data files, etc. * potential for on-the-fly analysis feeding back to the image acquisition (e.g. fast low-resolution screen, detailed acquisition in wells with e.g. high expression level) For more details, see the Leica website at <http://www.leica-microsystems.com/products/confocal-microscopes/details/product/leica-hcs-a-2/news/> SCHEDULE FOR LEICA MATRIX DEMONSTRATION, Wednesday 19 January 2011: 12.00: Presentation of the Leica Matrix Platform by Paul McCormick (Leica Support Specialist), seminar room SAFB-122 14.00: Hands-on demonstration and mini training on the inverted Leica-SP5 ('confocal 4') Everyone is welcome, but if you are interested in the hands-on session please let me know, there is limited space at CF4. After the demonstration, we will keep and test a trial version for several weeks. If successful, we'll try to put together a grant application with all interested parties.
