Dear microscopists, it's already approaching the end of the month again, so this week it's time for our FILM Club again: *FILM Club**October 2012: **Mirella Koleva - 'Super-resolution imaging using stochastic optical reconstruction microscopy (STORM)'* Introduction to the STORM super-resolution imaging modality - basic principles, optimisation and areas for future improvement. * Friday 26 Oct 2012, 13.00-14.00, South Kensington / SAFB / MDL1.** * => Mind the changed location this week! When you walk into the Fleming Building, walk PAST the stairs (not up), then turn right to the lifts and go up to the first floor. Up there, just turn left and you are there. We've had a few presentations about the basic principles of super-resolutions microscopy and PALM in previous FILM Clubs and Microscopy Days, but Mirella will go a step further and go further in depth with regard to issues specific for STORM, but also very interesting for all other kinds of microscopy, like photo-physical properties of fluorescent dyes, dark states and photobleaching, calculating the resolution, visualising the localisation precision and more.
