Free Imaging Workshop: Liverpool Centre for Cell Imaging When: 21st & 22nd September 2016 Where: NWC Research Centre, Liverpool, L3 9TA This year our focus will be on increased resolution and novel fluorescent proteins. The program is flexible and incremental : The first morning will cover basic knowledge of fluorescence and confocal microscopy, including new development for increased resolution imaging (e.g. Airy-scan). After lunch, there will be more specific talks focusing on new fluorescent proteins, imaging cell migration and super-resolution microscopy. The second day will be hands on activities in the Centre for Cell Imaging. There are a limited number of spaces, especially for the second day, and registration will be on a first-come first serve basis until the 12th September 2016. Registration is free but required so that we can calculate catering and space requirements. You can register here<http://payments.liv.ac.uk/browse/product.asp?compid=1&modid=2&catid=68>. We look forward to seeing you there, The CCI team More Information: http://pcwww.liv.ac.uk/~cci/2016imagingday.html Email enquiries: cci@liverpool.ac.uk<mailto:cci@liverpool.ac.uk> Preliminary Programme Day 1 (21 September): Making the most of Microscopy; Introduction to capabilities in the CCI and their applications 9:30-9:45 am Introduction to the CCI- Violaine See & Daimark Bennett (CCI) 9:45-10:30 am: Foundation in microscopy- Dave Mason (CCI) 10:30-11:00 am: Coffee break 11:00- 11:45: Benefits, features and applications of Airyscanning- Chris Power (Zeiss) 11:45-12:25: Smart fluorescent proteins and their application for high resolution microscopy- Peter Dedecker (University of Leuven, Belgium) 12:25-13:00: Selected short talks from users of the CCI 13:00-13:50: Lunch 13:50-14:30: Multiphoton and higher harmonic generation microscopy to visualize immune and cancer cell dynamics in live tissues- Bettina Weigelin (UT MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, USA) 14:30-15:10: : Fluorescence lifetime imaging - for cell biology, high content analysis and label-free tissue imaging - Chris Dunsby (Imperial College, London) 15:10- 15:40: Coffee break 15:40-16:20: When one becomes two: Studying the biophysics of bacterial cell division with super-resolution microscopy - Seamus Holden (Newcastle University) 16:20-16:45: New tools for Image Analysis -Delisa Ibanez-Garcia (Imaris) 16:45-16:50: Best short-talk prize announcement Day 2 (22 September): Imaging and analysis hands on. 10:00 am - 5 pm : Meet the CCI staff, Zeiss specialists with your own samples and images.
