Imperial College London

Faculty of Natural Sciences
Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Super-resolution microscopy to study
immune cell biology
Salary: £31,300 – £39,920 per annum
A Postdoctoral Research Fellowship is available for up to 3 years,
funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC), in super-resolution
fluorescence microscopy of human immune cells.
The project will be based in Dan Davis’s laboratory in South Kensington,
London, and involves using new fluorescence microscope technologies
(PALM, STORM, STED and others) to study fundamental aspects of Natural
Killer cell immune synapses (see for example: Brown et al, Plos Biology,
2011; Purbhoo et al, Science Signaling, 2010; Chauveau et al PNAS, 2010;
Sowinski et al, Nat Cell Biol, 2008). This is an exciting opportunity to
join a multidisciplinary team using novel and state-of-the-art
microscopy to understand the immunological recognition of disease at the
nanometre-scale.
You should have a PhD or equivalent level of professional qualification
and experience. Experience in fluorescence imaging and/or cell or
molecular biology, and proven evidence of an ability to carry out
important science are essential. Previous experience in studying immune
cell biology and/or using super-resolution fluorescence microscopy is
desirable but full training is available.
