[Cinema-List] Learned a new word today. Atom bomb. It was like the God taking a photograph.
Hi guys, We have two very different films for you this week, Dodgeball and The Village. The first thing I have to do is warn you all that the first two showings are on Monday this week and not Tuesday. The second is to tell you that unfortunately for the first two weeks of November there will be no showings as the concert hall is being used by other people. Without further delay here is our timetable for this week: Mon, 25 Oct 18:00 - Dodgeball: A true underdog story Mon, 25 Oct 20:15 - The Village Thu, 28 Oct 18:00 - The Village Thu, 28 Oct 20:30 - Dodgeball: A true underdog story And here are some descriptions for those who what them: The Village: The latest film by M. Night Shymalan (Sixth Sense) In a quiet, isolated village in old Pennsylvania, there lies a pact between the people of the village and the creatures who reside in the surrounding woods: the townspeople do not enter the woods, and the creatures do not enter the village. The pact stays true for many years, but when Lucius Hunt seeks medical supplies from the towns beyond the wood, the pact is challenged. Animal carcasses, devoid of fur, begin to appear around the village, causing the council of elders to fear for the safety of the village, the pact, and so much more. Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story: Peter LaFleur is a charismatic underachiever and proprietor of a rundown gym called Average Joe's. The facility's eclectic clientele of decidedly less-than-average Joes is comprised of: a self-styled pirate; a scrawny nerd who dreams of impressing an unattainable cheerleader; an obsessive aficionado of obscure sports; a dim-witted young man; and a cocky know-it-all who, of course, really knows nothing. Peter's humble gym catches the eye of White Goodman, the power-mullet-sporting, Fu-Manchu-d, egomaniacal owner of Globo Gym, a gleaming monolith of fitness. White intends to take over Average Joe's, and Peter's non-existent bookkeeping is making it all too easy for him. A foreclosing bank has stationed attorney Kate Veatch inside Average Joe's to finalize Globo's takeover of the gym. But Peter's boyish charms win her over and Kate joins his team of social rejects to beat the odds--and their own ineptitude--to try to save Average Joe's. How? A showdown dodgeball competition against Globo Gym. Thanks, Toby P.S. If any of you wish to join the staff please come along to the concert hall at around 17:00 on the day of a showing. -- iCU Cinema Beit Quad Prince Consort Road South Kensington London SW7 2BB Phone: 020 7594 8098 Fax: 020 7594 8065 email: cinema@imperial.ac.uk web page: http://union.imperial.ac.uk/cinema
