[Cinema-List] Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria.
Welcome back everyone. During the break we went out and bought ourselves a brand new projector! Come along and see what we spent £20k of the Union's money on. So, not only do we have a big screen and top of the range audio system, we now have a high-end projector better than ones found in normal cinemas! The first weeks' film are an interesting pair with a Japanese theme as we have Lost in Translation and The Last Samurai for your viewing pleasure. I'm also please to announce that we are planning to show all three Lord of the Rings films on May 22nd (so look out for more information). Lost in Translation ------------------- Tuesday, 27th April 18:00 Thursday, 29th April 21:15 Bob Harris (played by Bill Murray) is an American film actor, far past his prime. He visits Tokyo to appear in commercials, and he meets Charlotte (Scarlett Johannson), the young wife of a visiting photographer. Bored and weary, Bob and Charlotte make ideal if improbable traveling companions. Scarlet is looking for "her place in life," and Bob is tolerating a mediocre stateside marriage. Both separately and together, they live the experience of the American in Tokyo. Bob and Charlotte suffer both confusion and hilarity due to the cultural and language differences between themselves and the Japanese. As the relationship between Bob and Charlotte deepens, they come to the realization that their visits to Japan, and one another, must soon end. Or must they? --imdb The Last Samurai ---------------- Tuesday, 27th April 20:30 Thursday, 29th April 18:00 American War Captain Nathan Algren (Cruise) trains and leads a group of Japanese soldiers to defeat a rebellion of the countries remaining Samurai. Algren is captured by the Samurai and soon becomes part of the village he is being held hostage in and finds that his true warrior is becoming unleashed as he trains to become a Samurai with the very people we once called his enemies. Soon, the Japanese forces begin to search for the Samurai again... ready to begin a war with them that will soon determine the fate of Japanese traditions, and their lives. --imdb The schedule for most of the rest of the term is: Tue, 04 May 18:00 - School of Rock 20:30 - American Splendor Thu, 06 May 18:00 - American Splendor 20:30 - School of Rock Tue, 25 May 18:00 - Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King Thu, 27 May 18:00 - Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King Tue, 01 Jun 18:00 - Cold Mountain 21:15 - House of Sand and Fog Thu, 03 Jun 18:00 - House of Sand and Fog 20:45 - Cold Mountain Tue, 08 Jun 18:00 - Dawn of the Dead 20:15 - Shaun of the Dead Thu, 10 Jun 18:00 - Shaun of the Dead 20:15 - Dawn of the Dead See you soon, Tim -- iCU Cinema Beit Quad Prince Consort Road South Kensington London SW7 2BB Phone: 020 7594 8098 Fax: 020 7594 8065 email: cinema@imperial.ac.uk web page: http://union.imperial.ac.uk/cinema
