Alex Murphy is a good cop. Right up until his car explodes in his driveway and he's left near dead. The remake of the 1980s masterpiece borrows from its predecessor, turning its ire onto the murky world of military interventions, as well as asking deep questions about the nature of free will through the medium of awesome action scenes.
