Dear Mail man List holding page
You are receiving this email because Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) will be enabled for your College Microsoft Office 365 account at 13:01 Today.
Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) adds another layer of security to your account. It works by you verifying it is in fact yourself logging in to your College Office 365 account when using any device, work or personal (laptop/phone/tablet), other than your networked desktop, through a notification sent to your personal device after you have entered your College password.
The College currently uses MFA when accessing all Office 365 services (Outlook, Teams, Word etc.) as well as other College services which you may use for your work.
How to get started with MFA
After MFA has been enabled for your account, you will need to set up and choose the authentication option that best suits you. You can do this by logging into the Multi Factor Authentication web pages for detailed instructions on how to set up MFA including a short how-to video and FAQs.
Important information
1. Please note that if you have registered for Office 365 password management, also known as Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR), then you will already have set up key security information that is required for you to use MFA. SSPR enables you to easily reset your College password online should you accidentally forget it. If this is the case, then your default authentication method might already be set to “phone – text/call”. You can change this to the Microsoft Authenticator app (ICT’s recommended authentication method) by following the instructions on our Multi Factor Authentication web pages.
2. MFA is supported on mobile devices if you are using the latest version of Outlook, Gmail or Mail apps. If you struggle to access College emails on mobile devices once MFA has been enabled, ICT recommend downloading the Outlook app to access your College email. Alternatively, you can set up App Passwords which will allow you to continue using your preferred email app. For more information please read our App Passwords web pages.
If you have questions or problems with MFA, please contact the ICT Service Desk who will be happy to help.
