Hi guys, Slightly longer email this week as I have some other info other than just what films we have on. The extra information I have to discuss is about a 'recruitment' meeting on Tuesday 25th of January at 12:30, the reason for this meeting is that we are desperately in need of staff to ensure the cinema keeps running next year as pretty much all the committee and most of the general staff are graduating this year! So if you want the cinema to stay in business come along to the meeting and see what you can help with (projection, publicity, finance, administration and setting up before shows). Staff members only need to give a few hours of their time a week and in exchange you get to watch our films for free, get some of the official cinema 'Quad' posters for free, get 50% off all sweets and ice creams. Also we occasionally organise 'socials' where we go out have a meal and then go out drinking all subsidised by the cinema! So if you want to join in the fun or even just want to see what we get up to in running the cinema come along on Tuesday or if you can't come drop us an email at cinema(a)ic.ac.uk and we will give you more info. Barrie (Depp) came up with the play Peter Pan. After some failed attempts at creating a well written play, Barrie finds himself in a park playing with his dog. Several moments later he will come to meet the inspiration for his next play, four small boys and a widowed mother, who seems to be growing weaker by the day. Soon, the whole town is talking about Barrie and the Davies family, which causes some rough waters in his marriage. But what comes from his experiences is the play that comes to be known as Peter Pan. Shaolin Soccer: A shaolin kung-fu practitioner is seeking a way to spread the word about his chosen art. He meets a down-on-his-luck lame ex-football player who trains him and his five brothers to play football. They form a team, and are soon entered in a prestigious tournament with a 1 million dollar prize. Hi Guys, We have two great films for you this week, The Grudge and The Manchurian Candidate. The Manchurian Candidate: When his army unit was ambushed during the first Gulf War, Sergeant Raymond Shaw saved his fellow soldiers just as his commanding officer, Major Ben Marco, was knocked unconscious. Brokering the incident for political capital, Shaw eventually becomes a vice-presidential nominee, while Marco is haunted by dreams of what happened -- or didn't happen -- in Iraq. As Marco investigates, the story begins to unravel, to the point where he questions if it happened at all. Is it possible the entire unit was kidnapped and brainwashed to believe Shaw is a war hero as part of a plot to seize the White House? Some very powerful people at Manchurian Global corporation appear desperate to stop him from finding out. The Grudge The normal façade of a modest house in Tokyo belies the hidden terror within. It is possessed by a violent plague that destroys the lives of everyone who enters. Known as The Grudge, this curse causes its victims to die in the grip of a powerful rage. Those who are fatally afflicted by the curse die and a new curse is born--passed like a virus to all those who enter the house in an endless, growing chain of horror. Karen is an exchange student studying social work in Japan who innocently agrees to cover for a nurse who didn't show up for work. When she enters the assigned home, she discovers an elderly American woman, Emma, who is lost in a catatonic state while the rest of the house appears deserted and disheveled. As she is tending to the stricken old woman, Karen hears scratching sounds from upstairs. When she investigates, she is faced with a supernatural horror more frightening than she could ever imagine. Within this house, a chain of terror has been set in motion resulting from a terrifying evil that was born years before. As more people die, Karen is pulled into the cycle of horror and learns the secret of the vengeful curse that has taken root in this house. Now she must stop it before it's too late.
