Hi guys, We have two very different films for you this week, Dodgeball and The Village. The first thing I have to do is warn you all that the first two showings are on Monday this week and not Tuesday. The second is to tell you that unfortunately for the first two weeks of November there will be no showings as the concert hall is being used by other people. Without further delay here is our timetable for this week: Mon, 25 Oct 18:00 - Dodgeball: A true underdog story Mon, 25 Oct 20:15 - The Village Thu, 28 Oct 18:00 - The Village Thu, 28 Oct 20:30 - Dodgeball: A true underdog story And here are some descriptions for those who what them: The Village: The latest film by M. Night Shymalan (Sixth Sense) In a quiet, isolated village in old Pennsylvania, there lies a pact between the people of the village and the creatures who reside in the surrounding woods: the townspeople do not enter the woods, and the creatures do not enter the village. The pact stays true for many years, but when Lucius Hunt seeks medical supplies from the towns beyond the wood, the pact is challenged. Animal carcasses, devoid of fur, begin to appear around the village, causing the council of elders to fear for the safety of the village, the pact, and so much more. Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story: Peter LaFleur is a charismatic underachiever and proprietor of a rundown gym called Average Joe's. The facility's eclectic clientele of decidedly less-than-average Joes is comprised of: a self-styled pirate; a scrawny nerd who dreams of impressing an unattainable cheerleader; an obsessive aficionado of obscure sports; a dim-witted young man; and a cocky know-it-all who, of course, really knows nothing. Peter's humble gym catches the eye of White Goodman, the power-mullet-sporting, Fu-Manchu-d, egomaniacal owner of Globo Gym, a gleaming monolith of fitness. White intends to take over Average Joe's, and Peter's non-existent bookkeeping is making it all too easy for him. A foreclosing bank has stationed attorney Kate Veatch inside Average Joe's to finalize Globo's takeover of the gym. But Peter's boyish charms win her over and Kate joins his team of social rejects to beat the odds--and their own ineptitude--to try to save Average Joe's. How? A showdown dodgeball competition against Globo Gym. Thanks, Toby P.S. Hi guys, We have two great films for you this week, Fahrenheit 9/11 and The Bourne Supremacy. Times and dates are as follows: Tue, 19 Oct 18:00 - Fahrenheit 9/11 Tue, 19 Oct 20:45 - The Bourne Supremacy Thu, 21 Oct 18:00 - The Bourne Supremacy Thu, 21 Oct 20:30 - Fahrenheit 9/11 Here are some discriptions for you who do not know what these films are about: Fahrenheit 9/11 Michael Moore's famous (or should that be infamous) documentary probing into what happened in America after the September the 11th tragedy. Michael Moore takes a very anti-Bush viewpoint in this film and exposes many little known facts about the Bush Administration. The Bourne Supremacy Jason Bourne is back. After melting into the background at the end of The Bourne Identity he is a wanted man after being framed for an assanation attempt. When his girlfriend is killed he goes on a rampage to find those responsible. That is it for this week folks but next week we will have Dodgeball and The Village for your viewing pleasure. Hi guys, Welcome to all the freshers and the other new subscribers to the list. We have a great schedule lined up for you this term. This week we have Spiderman 2 and Shrek 2. The times and dates are as follows: Tuesday 12/10/04 18:00 Spiderman 2 Tuesday 12/10/04 20:45 Shrek 2 Thursday 14/10/04 18:00 Shrek 2 Thursday 14/10/04 20:15 Spiderman 2 I'm not sure if either of these films need a description but for those of you that need one here they are: Spiderman 2 Peter Parker (Tobey McGuire) can't seem to catch any kind of break. Being Spiderman has brought him nothing but problems as far as his personal life is concerned. Not only that, Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst) is engaged to astronaut John Jameson, and Peter may lose her forever. Things are so bad for him that he is pushed past his breaking point, so he decides that he doesn't want to be Spiderman anymore, until a freak accident transforms Dr. Otto Octavius into Dr. Octopus, a super-villain with four metal tentacles coming out of him. Peter realizes that only Spiderman can stop him, but of course, problems arise. Mary Jane gets caught in the middle, and Harry Osborn, who still blames Spiderman for the death of his father, Norman Osborn, also the Green Goblin, wants him dead. Spiderman will have to push himself past his limits if he's going to survive. Shrek 2 Right after their honeymoon the newly wed couple goes to Princess Fiona's parents for dinner. When a Fairy God Mother discovers Fiona and Shrek are married she reminds the king about a deal they agreed on years ago that Fiona should have married Prince Charming (her son). The king then hires a cat named Puss-in-Boots (a sword fighting cat and ogre slayer) to kill Shrek. For the rest of the term we currently have confirmed: The Bourne Supremacy The Village and Dodgeball Thanks, Toby P.S.
