Thu, 29 Jan 18:00 - Intermission

Intermission
Colin Farrel stars in an urban love story about people adrift and their
convoluted journeys in the search for some kind of love. When the
desperately insecure and emotionally inarticulate John (Murphy) breaks
up with Deirdre (Macdonald) to 'give her a little test' his plan
backfires leaving her broken-hearted and him alone and miserable.
Through chance and coincidence, their break-up triggers a roller coaster
ride of interweaving escapades in the lives of everyone around them.
Intermission presents a slice of life, the passage between breaking up
and making up, exploring how our lives intersect, and the power we all
possess to affect the lives of those around us.
Thirteen
At the edge of adolescence, Tracy is a smart straight-A student--if not
a little naive. When she befriends Evie, the most popular and beautiful
girl in school, Evie leads Tracy down a path of sex, drugs and
self-mutilation. As Tracy transforms herself and her identity, her world
becomes a boiling, emotional cauldron fueled by new tensions between her
and her mother--as well as, teachers and old friends.

Hi guys,
We have two huge blockbusters for you next week:
The Matrix: Revolutions: Tuesday 18:00, Thursday 20:45
Not sure this really needs a description but here it is anyway
The machine army continues to drill toward Zion. Within hours, they will
overrun the population of the Zionites and lay extinction to human kind.
Meanwhile, Neo is held captive by the Merovingian at a train station.
Trinity & Morpheus set out on a journey to release him from a mysterious
train operator. Also, Smith resumes his quest to kill "Mr. Anderson" as
he reveals his identity into the real world and resumes to replicate his
program inside the system of The Matrix, causing it to decay. All hope
is placed in the freed Neo, who must travel to the city of the machines
in the Logos ship with Trinity and bargain to save each kingdom from
destruction by finishing Smith once and for all. But even with his new
powers over the sentinels, will he be able to fight them off?
Master and Commander: The Far side of the World: Tuesday: 20:45,
Thursday: 18:00
During the Napoleonic Wars, a British frigate, HMS Surprise, and a much
larger French warship, the Acheron, with greater fire power, stalk each
other off of the coast of South America. Russell Crowe brings great
intensity to the role of Captain Jack Aubrey. Lucky Jack, as he is
referred to by his crew, is well regarded by his men, who trust him
implicitly, even after the first devastating battle and an apparent
personal vendetta against the French captain. While the naval battle
sequences are quite fantastic, the film is successful because director
Weir chose to build the story to get to know the men who are locked
aboard the tight quarters of a small ship and how they interact
everyday. The officers and the mates are well-known by the time the
final battle comes. Paul Bettany offers a strong performance as the
surgeon and naturalist who balances the violence of his chosen life with
the quiet demeanor of the scientist. He is the captain's friend and
confidant, the two frequently playing violin and cello duets together.
The horrors of the injuries from the war are frequently implied, but
vividly depicted in the reactions of the characters.
Tickets as all ways cost £3 for one film and £5 for both.
The week after next we have:

Tue, 27 Jan 20:15 - Intermission
Thu, 29 Jan 18:00 - Intermission

Hi Guys,
Hope you all had a good Christmas we have two great films for you this
week, Love Actually and Secondhand Lions
Love Actually: 18:00 Tue 13/1/04, 20:30 Thu 15/1/04
Set almost entirely in London during five frantic weeks before Christmas
follows a web-like pattern of inter-related, loosely related and
unrelated stories of a dozen or more various individuals with their love
lives, or lack of them. The central character is the new bachelor prime
minister David (Hugh Grant) who cannot express his growing feelings he
feels for his new personal assistant Natalie (Martine McCutcheon). The
prime minister's older sister Karen (Emma Thompson) slowly grows aware
about her husband Harry's (Alan Rickman) flirtation with an office
worker named Mia (Heike Makatsch). Karen's friend Daniel (Liam Neeson)
is a recently widowed writer whose 11-year-old son asks for love advice
to a girl he has a crush on. Meanwhile, Jamie (Colin Firth) is another
writer who leaves his girlfriend after catching her cheating on him and
travels to France to write a novel where he pursues a possible romance
with his non-English speaking Portuguese maid Aurelia (Lucia Moniz).
Also, Harry's American secretary Sarah (Laura Linney) questions a
romance she pursues with the office hunk Karl (Rodrigo Santoro), but her
personal family problems get in the way. Other secondary characters
involve a photographer who pursues his best friend's new wife Juliet
(Keira Knightley); a pair of movie stand-ins, named John and Judy, who
grow closer after their simulated love scenes; a libious chum who wants
to travel to Wisconsin, USA to score with women; and a burned-out former
rock star named Billy Mack (Bill Nighy) who is the main connection
between all stories involved.
Secondhand Lions: 20:50 Tue 13/1/04, 18:00 Thu 15/1/04
"Secondhand Lions" follows the comedic adventures of an introverted boy
(Osment) left on the doorstep of a pair of reluctant, eccentric
great-uncles (Caine and Duvall), whose exotic remembrances stir the
boy's spirit and re-ignite the men's lives.
