Laboratory Safety
Dear All, A final year student working with me is preparing an html package on safety in the chemical laboratory particularly as regards safety rules and regulations applied here in St Andrews School of Chemistry. We are also contemplating adding pages concerning accidents that have happened in other institutions, the reasons for the accidents and the effects that they had. If we prepare this additional series of pages we would consider making them available outside the university as a series of cautionary tales. If you have any stories, images, or information about accidents in laboratories where you work (or worked) and are willing to make these publicly available could you please either e-mail me at the address on theis message or better still e-mail the student concerned, Fiona Reid (fer@st-and.ac.uk). We will notify this group if we get sufficiently interesting material. If, on the other hand, you consider it inappropriate for the image of chemistry to have this sort of material freely available on the web please let me know.
