Dear all, As part of a project I am undertaking I am to become involved in the production of a WWW based questionaire/tutorial system. The envisgaed package would enable a person to establish a series of questions (a question database), via a graphical frontend, and display these to others where upon the answers are collected stored in a database. This database can then be processed at some point by the tutor/questionaire setter, again via a GUI.. We envisage developing the software in JAVA (1.2) rather than C++/CGI/JAVAScript. My question to users of this list is: 1) Do you know of existing implementations of such a system (contact names/URLs please) and 2) What features would you like to see incorporated into such a system? e.g. the specification of the Question developer frontend, and database examiner. PS: I expect to be freely providing any software developed to intertested parties.. /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ Dr. Jeff Gosper, Dept. of Chemistry, BRUNEL University Uxbridge Middx UB8 3PH, UK voice: 01895 274000 x2187, facsim: 01895 256844 internet/email/work: Jeffrey.Gosper@brunel.ac.uk internet/WWW: http://www.brunel.ac.uk/~castjjg Re_View's home page (molecular animations or Chem-4D): http://www.brunel.ac.uk/depts/chem/ch241s/re_view/re_view.htm \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ chemweb: A list for Chemical Applications of the Internet. There are a number of packages available that offer what you describe. QuestionMark are a well established commercial provider http://www.qmark.com/ They have just launched a product called Perception which is web based. There are freely available packages as well. I know of a JISC / JTAP funded one at Leicester that's web based called CASTLE. This is well developed. See my web pages for details of these and others. http://www.lboro.ac.uk/service/fli/caaintro.html You might also find useful information in the computer assissted assessment list which I believe is a mailbase one. Feel free to contact me off the list if you like. Myles chemweb: A list for Chemical Applications of the Internet.
