The January 1999 issue of the Journal of Documentation is a special issue from the UK Office for Library and Information Networking (UKOLN). Some subscribers to this list might be interested in an article by Brian Kelly and Ian Peacock (J. Doc. 1999, 55(1), 82-95) om monitoring trends in Web service provision. Web Watch software (a Web robot) was used on two occasions to monitor UK Higher Ediucation sites. Trends in browsers used, Java, metadata etc. are reported. Kelly also has an article on the evolution of Web protocols on pages 71-81 but subscribers to this list may already be familiar with the information therein. Sorry this message is a bit late (the March issue of J. Doc. is already out); I've been catching up with my reading.
