Hi, December's MOTM is 4-Bromo-4'-Methoxyacetophenone Azine, which is an organic ferroelectric material. Recently it has been possible to make a near-perfectly dipole-aligned crystal of this material, which makes it a candidate for the design of nonlinear optical materials. The MOTM page describing all about this fascinating molecule has been written by Rainer Glaser of the University of Missouri-Columbia, and there are 2 versions available; Chime version: http://www.missouri.edu/~chemrg/MOM_december_c.html HTML version : http://www.missouri.edu/~chemrg/MOM_december_h.html MOTM Home Page: http://www.bristol.ac.uk/Depts/Chemistry/MOTM/motm.htm --- I'm still on the lookout for more people to volunteer MOTM pages to take us into our 3rd year. The current waiting list is only about 3 months, so if you'd like to contribute a MOTM, please let me know.
