I am creating some web pages just now and I'm using Internet Assistant for Word to do most of the work. I find that when converting .doc files over to .html files, any tab spaces are naturally destroyed. This is annoying when sections of data in tabular form are to be converted. I ended up using <pre> which isn't the neatest way. I could create tables but it's a rather repetitive process and the document I have is rather lengthy.
