ECHET96 CD-ROM and ChemComm issue 6.
Those of you who received the RSC journal ChemComm issue 6 might have noticed a CD-ROM attached to the inside at the back. We (ie the CLIC project team) are intrigued in particular to any response to the CD that your institutional librarian or IT officer might have. Our librarian for example actually noticed the bulge, extracted the CD, and placed it in a small box containing 2-3 others (mostly those that seem to come attached to textbooks of organic chemistry nowadays). Because the number of such CDs for chemistry remains very low, our library is still developing a policy for how to deal with them, how to "catalogue" them, and in general bring them to the attention of users. The "precious" CDs, ie Dictionary of Organic Compounds etc, are all in the central library. If anyone has any feedback from their librarian etc on how the ECHET CD was received, and what policy if any exists to process such products, please let the RSC know at; Electronic Journals and Internet Services, Thomas Graham House, Science Park, Milton Rd, Cambridge, CB4 4WF, UK, or via rsc1@rsc.org Dr Henry Rzepa, Dept.
