It has just come to my attention that Accelrys has withdrawn its excellent free molecular viewing package ViewerLite and now only offers ViewerPro which retails at $299. I would be interested (a) to know the reaction of other users of this software to the news and (b) if there are any alternative freeware applications that offer the same or similar functionality particularly for viewing crystal lattices.
Have you looked at Mercury from the Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre. It is a free product (subject to conditions of use) and can be used to view crystal lattices. Packing can be done and Angles and Distances measured. Hello, has someone of you a list of "essential/recommended" chemistry software for a desktop running under Linux (SuSE 8.2 Pro). I know of course that requirements and oppinions differ from person to person - I am collecting ideas. Background: a) using the desktop and b) revitalizing the "ChemLinux"-ML at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/chemlinux/ Thank you very much Michael Engel chemweb: A list for Chemical Applications of the Internet. Michael, Here is an unfiltered list: http://zeus.polsl.gliwice.pl/~nikodem/linux4chemistry.html By the way, all of our tools run under Linux (and most other OS-s): http://www.chemaxon.com/products.html Best regards, Ferenc Michael Engel wrote:
