Subject: Re: Battle of the Chem Lists
Having lots of lists of chemistry links is an inefficient use of all the undoubted enthusiasm and experience out there. However, settling on a single centralised site as the 'authoritative list' is not the answer
The answer is to follow the ethos of the web - decentralise. . We should encourage the growth of specialist lists of links, and have a central index of these lists, ie use the 'WWW Virtual Library' aproach. This way we harness experience but don't stifle enthusiasm.
All this needs is a bit of organisation. Any offers?

This is a good idea. How about if all the lists were separate - but located on the same server - and each set of lists mirrored to other servers. This would make it easy to set up a search engine for all the lists, and keep the load off just one central server...... Know what I mean??? Tim P.S. I'd be keen to help out.... ----- chemweb: A list for Chemical Applications of the Internet.
