Hi,
Those of you who received the RSC journal ChemComm issue 6 might have noticed a CD-ROM attached to the inside at the back. Our librarian for example actually noticed the bulge, extracted the CD, and placed it in a small box containing 2-3 others (mostly those that seem to come attached to textbooks of organic chemistry nowadays).
Our librarian missed it completely and put the Journal on the shelf as normal.
If anyone has any feedback from their librarian etc on how the ECHET CD was received, and what policy if any exists to process such products,...
I asked our librarian if they had a policy on CD ROMs, and they said because they receive so few, no policy had been decided yet. They may catalogue them as books, but keep them restricted behind the counter. This might work if the number of CDs remains low, but if it increases substantially they may have to develop a new strategy. One option might be a networked computer with a CD ROM juke box? But this might be too costly...
