Hello,
I too have been investigating the png format (see http://burnallgifs.org/) but find that, when they are served over the web, IE (5.5) displays them okay but Netscape (4.76) does not, although it doesn't crash. If I look at the page with the png file locally, it displays fine in both Netscape and IE... curious! To summarise:
Local Server Netscape (4.76) Y N IE (5.5) Y Y
The following is based on very dim and distant memories (possibly inaccurate) - and may not help in this case. What webserver is serving these images? Is it apache, MS Webserver....? I remember hearing some dramas about the MS Webserver not being sociable with Mime types of certain file formats and Netscape (but this did not affect Internet Explorer). If this is the same type of effect: There is some option in the MS server to make the Mime types happy with Netscape if you know where to look. From memory, the information was meant to be in some obscure place in the microsoftware website - help support area. I hope this is not too confused and of some help. If I get some more info from the colleague in the know who had this problem (but is not in contact range at the moment) - I will pass it on. Lachlan. ----------------------- Lachlan M. D.
