A brace of 3rd party pages which address interesing issues regarding privacy etc. Not directly relevant to chemistry, but rather of more general interest/implication Firstly, Fast Forward (http://www.privnet.com/) which monitors advertisements and "cookies" and apparently can block them if one wishes. It claims to dramatically decrease download times by blocking "unwanted" graphics. I wonder how it decides? Then there is a fascinating page on how to set cookies using Javascript etc on http://www.illuminatus.com/cookie.fcgi Finally, http://www.marimba.com/ offer Castanet, which allows user-disk resident Java applications to "talk" to their remote originator, and update themselves automatically if a new version appears. Can any of us keep up with the implications of what is now possible? Note by the way that all three are "com" sites! Dr Henry Rzepa, Dept.
