I have been asked to comment on proposed software upgrades, one of which is Netscape Navigator 4.x.
I understand from various sources, not least this list, that there are compatibility problems between earlier versions of Netscape and version 4.x.
Specifically I am interested in chemically orientated helpers and plug-ins and I would like to know if there is any information available concerning the current state of play of, for example, products like Chime, NPJCAMP etc.
Comments on Java and JavaScript compatibility between 3.x and 4.x would also be of use.
I upgraded to netscape 4 for PC about three months ago. I now use it for all of my web authoring and browsing, newsgroup reading and Email. I have had no problems at all with it. Chime certainly works well, and I have not encoutered any Java problems either. -- Dr. Mike North senior lecturer in organic chemistry Tel / Fax 01248 382391 home page: http://www.bangor.ac.uk/ch/mn/mnhome.htm real Email m.north(at)bangor.ac.uk (change (at) to @) Department of Chemistry University of Wales Bangor Gwynedd LL57 2UW UK chemweb: A list for Chemical Applications of the Internet.
