I am posting this for Dr. Nikodem Miranowicz. Wendy Dear list readers, Lately, in the Laboratory of Chemical Education at Adam Mickiewicz University (Poznan, Poland), we have started a little educational project on distance learning. It is first our step into teaching students how to draw structures and to model molecules we did by Internet. If You have a time, please take a look at our project at http://chem214.chemd.amu.edu.pl/intins/INTINS.html. Send me your comments. May be you'll find it somehow usefull for yourself. For 10 years I'm doing my university classes on the use of computers in chemistry and chemistry education (structure drawing, modelling, simulations, Internet sources, hipermedia authoring etc). We use textbooks and classical methods of programmed learning. Today I am forced by the fact that students starts to prefere to use Internet and not to come to the faculty late at the evening for exercises. I started our project with a simple and structurised set of animations showing how to draw a structure with ChemDraw or ISISDraw or prepare a model with Chem3D. Next step is to introduce interactive tools for controlling students attempts to properly draw a structure. We are doing this with ChemOffice ChemDraw plug-in. As for now students like it.
