We, in the American Physical Society have committed to the availability of a "Link Manager" that will enable anyone, on the web, to link to any of our on-line journals by knowing the journal name, volume and page number. It is our responsibiity to maintain the linkability to our published articles and not subject the reader / user to the movement of files, etc. You an find information on this "Link Manager" at <http://publish.aps.org/linkfaq.html>, along with a sample link. Again, the "Link Manager" is freely available for any to use and is currently being used by some physics libraries and e-print services.
The front matter of an article, consisting of title, author, affiliation and abstract, for all APS e-published articles is freely available, on the web, for linking to as well as browsing from a table-of -contents. This content, refered to, by us, as a wrapper, is the basic building block of our online service. Content and services, fee and free, relating to an article, are available off of the wrapper.
