Amaya is a Windows only browser that Dave Raggett uses to illustrate cutting edge Web standards. The latest version 4.0 is very impressive, supporting natively the SVG DOM (Document object model, an acronym used to define marked-up components of the document; normally HTML but in this case also SVG). You can edit the SVG on the pages. Hi, November's MOTM is dinitrophenylethanedioate, or DNPO for short. It's the molecule which forms the basis of Cyalume "light sticks" used by divers for emergency and underwater lighting, fishing lures and various novelty items such as glow necklaces. Since 1980 molecules like these have become widely used as analytical tools for trace analysis and are currently the most sensitive and versatile chemiluminescence detection method for liquid chromatography. The MOTM page has been adapted from a set of pages at Leeds University written by Daniel Ormsby called "The Delights of Chemistry", in which various spectacular and visually impressive chemical reactions are described. E-mail support for chemical MIME type.

For unix users, I am pleased to announce that the mutt mail client now supports arbitary MIME types and thus supports the chemical MIME type. Previous mutt stuck very much to only supporting the "Official" MIME types. Details are on my web page:- http://lacebark.ntu.edu.au/mutt/mutt-coding.html and to quote:- "The very latest version of mutt in the unstable branch allows any MIME type, so finally mutt supports the chemical MIME type. This should work back down into the stable releases of mutt. I will keep this page up to date on progress. Currently you have to get the latest unstable snapshot or the CVS version. I expect the change to appear in the next actual unstable version, which will be 1.3.11. This has not yet been released. Below is how you alter earlier versions of mutt to support chemical MIME types." The last sentence refers to my patches from some time back that specifically adds support for the chemical MIME type to mutt version 1.2.5. You might be interested that Chime 2.6 is going to be released in the next few weeks. Science and Chemistry Internet Broadcasts

As bandwidth (for some) increases on the Internet, it gets consumed by some interesting new projects! I have posted to this list our own video recordings in chemistry (http://www.ch.ic.ac.uk/video/ ) Others are also starting to do this; http://www.researchchannel.com/ in the US, and from CERN, the home of the Web, comes the Web University, http://webcast.cern.ch/Projects/WebUniversity/index.html as well as the well established Vega Science trust headed by Harry Kroto at Sussex; http://www.vega.org.uk/ I am also aware of a program under way at Erlangen in Germany, and there are no doubt others starting. Most conventional broadcasters are also experimenting with interactive TV, Web TV etc. In the UK, a series called ScienceShack will feature live experiments etc (part of what is called 360 degrree programming). As i know pure grade maltose is used as an intravenous nutrient in Japan. But why only in japan? how about the market situation in europe or usa？ Where can i find the information about pure maltose as intravenous nutrient？ what's the least purity requirement for pure maltose as an intravenous nutrient？ If there is other application of pure maltose except an intravenous nutrient. It's the new painkilling drug ABT-594, which is structurally related to epibatidine and nicotine, and has been suggested as a possible remedy for Alzheimer's disease.
