Here are the don’t’s: · Don’t ask your boss if you know only the location, the date and the networking programme. · Don’t ask your boss if you do not know who will exhibit there. · Don’t ask your boss if you do not know who will attend the conference. · Don’t ask your boss if the programme is not yet published. Here are the do’s: When you approach your boss, think a bit of it as of a sales pitch. Keep it short but professional, and come armed with the facts, including a few bullet points about the benefits. Your boss isn't always going to say "yes," but if you know what you want, are sincere, and can demonstrate why attending a conference is valuable to the company, you'll dramatically improve your odds.
