Hi,
February's MOTM is Aspartame, the sugar substitute, which is sold
commercially as Nutrasweet or Canderel. It has been written by
Dr Eric Walters of the Chicago Medical School in the US.
All 4 versions are available (HTML-only, Chime, VRML and Chemsymphony)

Although released 11 December, the arrival of Chime 2.6 has not
been noted on this forum previously.
http://www.mdlchime.com/chime/
(UK users please note that if you are registered at the CDS service,
you can download the Pro version of 2.6 there)
Postings of experiences of this new version most welcome.
I will note here that Chime 2.6 introduces support for the
new "extended" Molfile format (called V3000) which is substantially
different from the Molfile we all know and love. Writing the new format
from Chime must be forced by an HTML attribute.
I also note that for the Macintosh platform, the plugin is not claimed
to support Internet Explorer, and in fact in my hands did not work at
all for this browser. I presume that it does work for IE5.5 on
Windows. I think its also reasonable to say it probably will not work
with any of the Version 6 Netscape browsers (the latest of which is actually
known as Mozilla 0.7. The released version of Netscape 6 is equivalent
to Mozilla 0.6 ).

Hello,
Recently, I am tired
- off restarting my computer several times a day
- off computer system resource problems, which means it crashes when using
emailer, browser and other programs.
Yes, I am using Microsoft Windows (98 to be exact).
I am ready now for a new adventure - Linux.
You find a lot of information about Linux and other software running under
Linux. Many of the software is for free and you are allowed to change it (if
you are able to) to make it fit your needs.
You even find a nice page about chemistry software for Linux.
Linux4Chemistry:
http://zeus.polsl.gliwice.pl/~nikodem/linux4chemistry.html
I think that there might be more chemists who would like to test Linux or
who are already firm in using it.
Let's join.
To make it easier, I founded a forum at egroups with a mailing list:
http://www.egroups.com/group/chemlinux
Please join this group and/or promote it. We need a "critical mass" before
it works well.
With my best regards
Michael Engel

Apologies for duplicate postings.
Could I draw readers' attention to the opening for Scientists in
Computer-Aided Drug Design and High-Throughput Screening, currently
advertised at http://www.warr.com.
Attention meeting organisers: our first major update of 2001 is due very
soon.
We keep changing the site content, so do keep visiting us in 2001.
